With temperatures around freezing, a glaze of ice is possible with additional snow accumulations of up to 1 inch north of I-84, the National Weather Service said.
The advisory covers Dutchess, Orange and Ulster counties.
Light snow will accumulate up to an inch before gradually changing to rain in most places Sunday evening.
There will be a chance of snow showers before 8 a.m. under mostly cloudy skies through mid-morning, followed by gradual clearing, with a high around 34 and wind-chill values between 20 and 25.
